"For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." Rom 1:20

A Chicago based “artist” just yesterday won the latest Artes Mundi Prize of 40,000 pounds for an “installation” in a gallery somewhere in Wales.  Karen Mackinnon, the Director,  felt that “In these difficult social-political times, art that engages with social concerns offers meaning to our lives; it challenges, comforts, teaches and resists.

It was apparently a challenging task to select the winning artist, since “this year’s shortlisted artists all demonstrate art’s ability to reflect on and engage with most pressing questions of human life today.”

What were these ”most pressing questions of human life today”? What was this installation that so proficiently addressed these pressing concerns? I don’t know all of it, but the part of the installation that was prominently displayed on their press release was a legless, stuffed goat with a white towel tossed over its back, perched atop an ugly contraption on wheels!!! The “artist” won because his winning piece seeks to challenge the Western-centric ideology of Christianity that marginalizes other religious traditions.”

A Biblical world view is far from “Western-centric”, it is global. Besides that, it does not seek to marginalize other religious traditions; it recognizes and announces their emptiness. As for tackling “the most pressing questions of human life today”, I am convinced that nothing but the Bible does that. Jesus recognized that such a view was unlikely to be popular.

Mat 7:13
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
Mat 7:14
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

While I don’t usually voice my objections to what is considered art today, this odd news article served as a nudge to once again issue an open call to Christian artists to submit their artwork. There is no fee to submit, neither is there a reward. Just do it to be seen and heard.

Christian Artist Resource is issuing an invitation for artists to freely upload their artwork along with a testimony. Don’t let the word "testimony" trouble you - just tell your story. (Click here for some ideas)

Add a Scripture reference that is relevant. Why? Because God’s word is powerful and one can never predict whose life it might impact. Come on artists, let us lift up Jesus! Let us talk about why we do what we do; let us testify to why we are so grateful for His presence in our lives.

I reserve the right to curate the work and to only upload art in keeping with the intent and content of this site. Some editorial liberties will also be taken with accepted art and writing, but I promise to not change the content, or the intent. Art and writing that is not aligned with the truths of the Bible will not be uploaded.

Let those of us who know Jesus add our words to counter the nonsensical babble that seems to be prevalent everywhere. People are seeking; they need to know the truth and they are lost. We, as Christian artists, know what truly “challenges, comforts, teaches….” and it is not a legless, stuffed goat on wheels!

Even if our work and words are dismissed, they will still exist as witnesses to the truth and surely be pleasing to our Lord who gave us the command to be witnesses.

So please join me in this call to action and let our voices be heard.
